Uses
Polymer materials
Polymer monomer: Ethyl Vinyl Ether copolymerizes with vinyl chloride to improve plastic flexibility, and copolymerizes with maleic anhydride to produce pharmaceutical thickening agents.
Coatings and inks: As reactive diluents, they enhance adhesion and crosslinking of UV-cured coatings.
Adhesives: Poly(vinyl ether) is used in pressure-sensitive adhesives and packaging materials.
Fine chemical engineering
Fragrance synthesis: as an intermediate to produce flavor stabilizers.
Hydroxy protection: reacts with alcohol under acidic conditions to form α-ethoxyethyl ether, used for group protection in organic synthesis.
