Uses
Medicine and anesthesia
Anesthetics: Ethyl Vinyl Ether has an inhibitory effect on the central nervous system. Its anesthetic effect is about 2 times that of diethyl ether and is used in surgical procedures.
Drug intermediates: Synthesis of sulfadiazine (antibiotic), glutaraldehyde (disinfectant), etc.

Ethyl Vinyl Ether vapor inhalation or liquid contacting the skin may cause central nervous system depression, respiratory paralysis, dermatitis, etc. The oral LD₅₀ of rats is 6153 mg/kg, and the explosion limit of the vapor and air mixing is 1.7%-28% (volume ratio).
