Clear Ethylene Glycol (EG), also known as glycol, is the simplest aliphatic diol. It possesses the chemical properties of alcohols, such as the ability to form ethers, esters, to be oxidized to aldehydes or acids, and to condense to form ethers. It can also be substituted by halogens. When reacting with acyl chloride or acid anhydride, it generally forms diesters. Ethylene glycol is used as a raw material for producing polyester resins, alkyd resins, and polyester fibers, and is also used as an anti-freezing agent for automobiles and a cooling agent for aircraft engines.

Polyester Industry:

• PET Resins: Ethylene Glycol (EG) is a primary raw material for PET production-reacting with terephthalic acid to form PET resins used in plastic bottles,food packaging,and textile fibers. Over 60% of global MEG output is consumed in PET manufacturing.
• Polyester Fibers: Used in producing polyester staple fibers and filaments,widely applied in clothing,home textiles,and industrial fabrics.

Antifreeze & Coolant:Formulated into automotive and industrial antifreezes/coolants; lowers the freezing point of water and raises the boiling point,preventing engine or equipment damage from freezing in winter and overheating in summer.
Chemical Synthesis:Used in producing diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol,and other glycol ethers.
Other Applications:
In paper industry,as a softening agent to improve paper flexibility; in leather processing,as a humectant to prevent cracking; also used in hydraulic fluids and deicing agents.
