Chemical Properties Of Monoethanolamine (MEA):
- Colorless, transparent and viscous liquid at room temperature, strong hygroscopicity of methanol and ammonia smell.
- Mixed with water, methanol, slightly soluble in benzene, ether and carbon tetrachloride.
- Aqueous solution is alkaline, can be absorb acidic gas, the absorbed gas can be released after heating.
- It produces salt with inorganic acid and organic acid, and anhydride generated ester. Keep away from naked flame and high temperature, steam is harmful.
