Application
- Pharmaceutical intermediates: Phthalamide is used to synthesize anti-epileptic drugs (such as phenobarbital derivatives) and antibiotic intermediates, and the stability of drug molecules is improved by amide bond modification.
- Pesticide synthesis: As a structural unit of herbicides or insecticides, for example, it participates in the preparation of insect growth regulators containing phthalamide skeletons.
- Fluorescent materials: Phthalamide is used to prepare fluorescent probes or dyes. Its conjugated structure can emit fluorescence of a specific wavelength under ultraviolet excitation and is used in biological imaging.
- Organic synthesis: As a nucleophilic reagent, it participates in condensation reactions, or prepares heterocyclic compounds such as isoindolinone through cyclization reactions, which are used in the synthesis of functional materials.
