Preparation method

Vanadium - Catalyzed Oxidation of o - Cresol Method: Ammonium metavanadate, melamine, a carrier (such as SiO₂, TiO₂, etc.), and a solvent (such as water or ethanol) is placed in a ball mill, and grinding balls are added for ball milling. After drying, the vanadium catalyst is calcined at high temperatures in a muffle furnace to obtain a vanadium catalyst. Then o - cresol, hydrogen peroxide, a solvent, and the prepared vanadium catalyst are added to the reaction vessel, and the temperature is controlled during the reaction to obtain the product P - Toluquinone.

Electrochemical Oxidation Method: Using a polycrystalline platinum electrode as the working electrode and a hydrogen electrode as the reference electrode, o - cresol is oxidized to P - Toluquinone.
