Lithium fluoride (LiF) is a white powder with a sodium chloride-type crystal structure. Its relative density is 2.640. The melting point is 848 °C and the boiling point is 1673 °C. It begins to volatilize at 1100-1200 °C, and its vapor is alkaline. Lithium fluoride is slightly soluble in water and hardly soluble in alcohol and other organic solvents. At room temperature, lithium fluoride is easily soluble in nitric acid and sulfuric acid but insoluble in hydrochloric acid.
LiF(CAS:7789-24-4) is widely used as a desiccant, flux, additive in aluminum and rare earth electrolysis, optical glass manufacturing, optoelectronic materials, and as a key raw material for lithium-ion battery electrolytes.
