Mono ethylene glycol (meg) uses
- Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG Glycol), also known as MEG chemical, pure ethylene glycol, MEG mono ethylene glycol, clear ethylene glycol, or ethylene glycol C2H6O2, is mainly used in the production of polyester, polyester resin, polyester fibers, as well as serving as a hygroscopic agent, plasticizer, surfactant, synthetic fiber additive, cosmetic ingredient, and even in explosives.
- It is also widely used as a solvent for dyes, inks, and other industrial chemicals, and in the preparation of engine antifreeze agents, gas dehydrating agents, and resins. Additionally, it can function as a wetting agent for cellophane, fibers, leather, and adhesives.
- Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG Glycol) is essential in the production of synthetic resin PET, including fiber-grade PET for polyester fibers and bottle flake-grade PET for mineral water bottles. It is also employed in the production of alkyd resins, glyoxal, and other chemical products, and serves as an antifreeze.
- Beyond its use in automotive antifreeze, pure ethylene glycol is also applied as a coolant carrier for industrial heat transfer systems.
- The ethylene glycol C2H6O2 can be used in printing inks, industrial cleaning agents, coatings (such as nitrocellulose paint, varnish, and enamels), copper-clad plates, and as printing and dyeing solvents and diluents. They also serve as raw materials for pesticide intermediates, pharmaceutical intermediates, and synthetic brake fluids, among other chemical products.
