【Application areas】

Pharmaceutical intermediates: 4-chlorobutyryl chloride is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate for the production of drugs such as haloperidol and tricloperidone. Haloperidol is a butyrophenone antipsychotic drug with dopamine receptor antagonism.

Organic synthesis: As an acylating agent, 4-chlorobutyryl chloride is used in organic synthetic chemistry for the acylation reaction of alcohols or amine compounds to prepare the corresponding ester and amide products.

Insecticide raw materials: 4-chlorobutyryl chloride is also used as a raw material for insecticides, such as the synthesis of carbamate insecticides.

Rubber industry: In the rubber industry, 4-chlorobutyryl chloride can be used as a raw material for modifiers.

[Safety and storage]

4-chlorobutyryl chloride is highly irritating and should be avoided from contact with skin and eyes. Appropriate protective clothing should be worn during operation.

It will undergo hydrolysis reaction and deteriorate when exposed to water, and it is also easy to decompose when heated. Therefore, it needs to be stored away from light at room temperature, ventilated and dry, and sealed in a brown glass bottle, and protected with a wooden box or plastic barrel.
