What is Dodecylamine?

Dodecylamine, also known as Lauryl Amine, is an organic compound. It is a white powder with a pungent ammonia odor. It is soluble in ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform and carbon tetrachloride, and is difficult to dissolve in water. The density is about 0.8015. The melting point is 28℃, the boiling point is 259℃, and the refractive index is about 1.4421. Lauryl Amine is widely used in the production of detergents, care products and household cleaning agents. It can also be used as a foaming agent, emulsifier and antistatic agent. In chemical synthesis, this substance is used as a catalyst carrier as an amine derivative.

• Surfactant field: Dodecylamine is used as a raw material to synthesize cationic surfactants (such as dodecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride), which are used to prepare detergents, softeners, fungicides, etc., and play a cleaning and conditioning role in the textile and daily chemical industries.
• Ore flotation field: As a flotation collector, it selectively adsorbs on the surface of minerals, making the minerals hydrophobic and attached to bubbles, helping the enrichment and separation of non-ferrous metal ores (such as copper, lead, and zinc ores).
• Organic synthesis field: Lauryl Amine is used to synthesize dodecyl primary amine derivatives, such as amides, guanidine compounds, etc., and is an important raw material for the preparation of dyes, pharmaceutical intermediates, and rubber additives.
• Anti-corrosion and water treatment field: Dodecylamine is used as a corrosion inhibitor in metal processing to prevent metal surface corrosion; in water treatment, it can be used as a bactericide and algaecide to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the circulating water system and maintain system stability.
