2-Naphthol, also known as ß-naphthol, Beta-Naphthol, has a density of 1.28 g/cm3. Melting point 123-124°C. Boiling point 285-286°C. Flash point 161°C. It is soluble in alcohol, ether and most organic solvents, but insoluble in water. It has the properties of phenol and can react with sodium hydroxide to form the corresponding sodium salt.
