Aniline Oil Physical Properties

• Appearance: colorless to light yellow oily liquid with special amine odor (gradually oxidizing and browning when exposed to air).
• Boiling point: 184.4°C, melting point: -6.3°C, density: 1.02 g/cm³ (20°C).
• Solubility: slightly soluble in water (3.6 g/100 mL, 20°C), soluble in alcohols, and other organic solvents.

Aniline Oil Chemical Properties

• Weakly basic: pKb 9.4, can form salts with acids (e.g., aniline, C₆H₅NH₃⁺Cl-).
• Oxidation sensitivity: easily oxidized by air to azobenzene and other colored products.
• Electrophilic substitution reaction: halogenation, nitration, sulfonation, etc., occur on the benzene ring.

Aniline Oil/Aniline is one of the most important amines. It is mainly used in the manufacture of dyestuffs, drugs, resins, and can also be used as a rubber vulcanization accelerator, and so on. It is also used as a black dye itself. Its derivative, methyl orange, is used as an indicator for acid-base titration.

Aniline plays a significant role in the synthesis of pharmaceutical compounds such as acetaminophen and is highly effective in producing pharmaceutical intermediates.

• Polyurethane Industry

Over 80% of global aniline production is used to manufacture MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate), a key component in polyurethane foams. These foams are widely used in furniture, mattresses, footwear, automotive, refrigerators, and building insulation.

• Gasoline Additives and Petroleum Products

Aniline is used as an additive in some fuel formulations to improve the octane rating.

• Rubber and Explosives Manufacturing

Aniline Oil is also used in producing specific chemicals such as vulcanization accelerators and some explosives.
