Dichloromethane (DCM), also known as dichloroalkane, methyl chloroform, or DCM, is a colorless organic compound with a pungent, ether-like odor. Its chemical formula is CH2Cl2. This compound is formed by replacing two hydrogen atoms in methane (CH4) with chlorine atoms. It is slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether, and is a non-flammable, low-boiling-point solvent under normal operating conditions.

Methylene Chloride (Dichloromethane) Uses
- Methylene Chloride (Dichloromethane) has the advantages of strong dissolving ability and low toxicity. It is widely used in the production of safety films and polycarbonate, as well as in paints, metal degreasing, aerosol sprays, polyurethane foaming, mold release, and paint removal.
- It is also used as a reaction medium in the industrial synthesis of compounds such as hydroxypenicillin and avanamycin. Additionally, it serves as a solvent for film production, petroleum dewaxing, organic synthesis extraction, polyurethane foaming, and metal cleaning for foam plastic production.
