Glacial Acetic Acid (CAS 64-19-7) is a colorless, transparent liquid with a characteristic pungent odor and high purity. It is completely miscible with water and soluble in most organic solvents, making it an important industrial chemical and chemical intermediate. Due to its acidic and corrosive nature, it is widely used in the production of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM), acetic anhydride, acetate esters, PTA, dyes, pharmaceuticals, and food additives.
Glacial acetic acid can react with active metals, alkaline oxides, and alkalis to form acetate salts, many of which are used in textile dyeing, coatings, catalysts, and other industrial applications.
