Diethyl Azodicarboxylate is commonly used as a reducing agent and catalyst in organic chemistry. It can be used to reduce aldehydes to their corresponding alcohols or to catalyze the aldol condensation of ketones with silanols. Due to its high reducing and catalytic activity, DEAD is widely used in many organic synthesis reactions.
