(R)-[1,1'-Binaphthalene]-2,2'-diol is an auxiliary for the asymmetric selective reduction of ketones and a ligand in chiral titanium catalysts for stereoselective reactions, such as the glyoxylic acid reaction and the Diels-Alder reaction.
(R)-[1,1'-Binaphthalene]-2,2'-diol can be used as a chiral auxiliary to catalyze the asymmetric oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides.
Its chiral lanthanide trifluoromethanesulfonate derivative can be used as a catalyst for the asymmetric Diels-Alder reaction.
Binaphthol derivatives can be used for the asymmetric Claisen rearrangement and asymmetric epoxidation.
Its lithium aluminum hydride derivatives can be used for the reduction of ketones.
