It is soluble in most organic solvents, such as alcohol, ether and banana water, is stable, does not spontaneously decompose at room temperature, and usually has a ketone-like odor.

4-Methyl-2-pentanone Oxime is usually a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid with a density of 0.89g/cm³, a boiling point of 179.8°C at 760 mmHg, a flash point of 88.1°C, and a vapor pressure of 0.434mmHg at 25°C.

Uses:

Pharmaceutical intermediates: 4-Methyl-2-pentanone Oxime is an important component of pharmaceutical intermediates and is used to produce high-performance silicone crosslinkers, such as vinyl tris(methyl isobutyl ketoxime) silane and methyl tris(methyl isobutyl ketoxime) silane.

Anti-skinning agent: added to oil-based paint, alkyd paint and epoxy ester paint, it prevents oxidation reaction by complexing metal ions and prolongs the storage life of the paint.
Crosslinking accelerator: synergistically works with amine curing agents to accelerate the curing process of epoxy resin and improve the adhesion of the paint film.
