Electrochemical Applications: 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium Tetrafluoroborate is often used in the field of electrochemistry, especially in the capillary electrophoresis method for the separation of phenolic compounds in grape seed extract. Appearance and properties inspection

Melting point determination
Select a well-calibrated melting point instrument with precise temperature control, take an appropriate amount of sample, grind it into powder, dry it and remove water, and then put it into a capillary tube with a height of about 3mm. Use water as a temperature transfer liquid, heat it to a temperature close to the melting point, immerse the capillary tube with a thermometer, control the heating rate to 1.0 - 1.5℃/minute, stir evenly, record the temperature from initial melting to full melting, repeat 3 times and take the average, the standard melting point is 15℃.
Boiling point determination
Use a boiling point tester or a distiller with this device to slowly heat the sample until a stable vapor flow appears. At this time, the temperature is the boiling point (the boiling point of the sample is > 350℃). The heating speed must be controlled and the device must be sealed to prevent volatilization.
Density determination
Balance cylinder method: Use a high-precision balance to weigh the sample to obtain the mass m, slowly pour it into the measuring cylinder to measure the volume V, and calculate the density according to the formula ρ = m/V. Prevent volatile losses during operation, and the accuracy of the measuring cylinder must meet the standard.
Densitometer method: Select a densitometer with appropriate range and accuracy, wash it and gently place it in the sample, read it after it stabilizes, and try to control the measurement temperature at 25℃. The standard density is 1.294g/mL.
Refractive index detection
First calibrate the refractometer with standard substances, then take an appropriate amount of sample and drop it on the prism, close the prism to remove bubbles, read it after the room temperature stabilizes, and the standard refractive index n20/D is 1.413.
Thermal stability: Place the sample at different high temperatures (such as 50℃, 100℃, etc.) and heat it regularly to observe the changes in appearance, color and physical and chemical properties, and use chemical analysis to check whether the structure and composition have changed.
