Disodium phosphate dodecahydrate is a colorless and odorless crystal. The relative density is 1.5235. It is insoluble in ethanol. It loses all the crystal water at 100℃ and becomes anhydrous. It decomposes into sodium pyrophosphate at 250℃. Disodium Hydrogen Phosphate Dodecahydrate is mainly used as a water softener for boiler water to prevent scaling and remove the formed scale. It reacts with the hard salt in the water to form an insoluble flocculent precipitate, thereby softening the water.
