4-Azidoaniline Hydrochloride (CAS 91159-79-4 is an azide-containing organic compound with a chemical structural formula of C₆H₇ClN₄, with a molecular weight of 170.60. Its appearance is an off-white to light yellow crystalline solid, which exists in the form of hydrochloride, and has the reactivity of aniline groups and the high activity of azide groups.
4-Azidoaniline Hydrochloride has a melting point of 165°C (decomposition), slightly soluble in water, easily soluble in polar organic solvents such as methanol and ethanol, and has a low solubility in non-polar solvents.

Uses:

4-Azidoaniline Hydrochloride is an azide source involved in copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction (CuAAC) and forms stable 1,2,3-triazole rings with alkynyl compounds. It is widely used in biocoupling, protein labeling and photoelectric material synthesis.

Used to prepare drug molecules, functional polymers (such as photoresponsive materials) and biologically active molecules with triazole structure.

As a photoreactive probe precursor, it is used in cell adhesion experiments, sugar chemical modification and material surface functionalization.

Method of Preparation:
4-Azidoaniline Hydrochloride is prepared as follows:
- Nitrosoaniline is prepared by the reaction of sodium nitrite with aniline.
- Next, the resulting nitrosoaniline is reacted with a bromoimide to obtain the bromo product, which is then reacted with a solution of an ammonia salt to form a second imine, and finally reacted with hydrochloric acid to form 4-Azidoaniline Hydrochloride.
