1-benzothiophene-3-sulfonyl chloride is a colorless to light yellow liquid with a irritating odor at room temperature, with a melting point of 86°C, a boiling point of 369.2°C, a flash point of 177.1°C, a density of 1.6 g/cm³, and a refractive index of 1.673. The molecular structure contains benzothiophene ring and sulfonyl chloride group, which is slightly soluble in water (0.091 g/L, 25°C), and is easily soluble in organic solvents such as dichloromethane and diethyl ether.
