COBALT SULFIDE has two types, α-CoS is a black amorphous powder, which will form Co (OH) S in the air; β-CoS is a gray or red-silver octahedral crystal with a density of 5.45g/cm³, a melting point > 1116°C, a vapor pressure of 12600mmHg at 25°C, insoluble in water, soluble in acid, and sensitive to moisture. It is almost insoluble in water at room temperature, slightly soluble in strong acid, produces Co²⁺ ions, and can be oxidized to Co³⁺ by concentrated nitric acid.
 

Uses:

Used to extract cobalt raw materials: COBALT SULFIDE is one of the important sources of raw materials for extracting cobalt.
