Hydroxytrimethylsilane is an organic silicon compound that is a colorless liquid with a special smell. It is soluble in organic solvents (such as ethanol, ethers and benzene).
Trimethylsilanol has a molecular formula of C3H10OSi and a molecular weight of 96.129. It will condense and dehydrate under the action of acid or alkali, or under heat, to form hexamethyldisiloxane. In addition, when it reacts with lithium aluminum tetrahydride, the Si-OH bond can be reduced to a Si-H bond.
