Gibberellic acid is a widely used antibiotic belonging to the macrolide class of antibiotics. This class of drugs is known for its inhibitory effects on a variety of bacteria and is commonly used to treat a variety of infections. It consists of a macrolide ring structure and multiple sugar groups. This macrocyclic structure gives it strong antibacterial activity. It is soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, ketones, and esters, but poorly soluble in ether, chloroform, benzene, and water.

What is gibberellic acid used for?

1. It is a highly effective plant growth regulator that can promote crop growth and development, early maturity, improve quality, and increase commercial yield.
2. It can quickly break the dormancy of organs such as seeds, tubers and bulbs, promote germination, reduce the shedding of buds, flowers, bolls and fruits, increase the fruit setting rate or form seedless fruits.
3. It can be used for crops such as rice, wheat, cotton, fruit trees, and vegetables to promote their growth, germination, flowering, and fruiting.

When to apply gibberellic acid?

Growers should apply gibberellic acid three to four weeks after bloom or when trees have five to seven leaves (three to five fully expanded) on terminal growth. Gibberellic acid should be used at rates of 10-20 ppm or 4-8 ounces per 100 gallons of ProGibb 4 percent (or equivalent) when applied dilute.
