Nicosulfuron is a sulfonylurea selective herbicide with the chemical name 2-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-ylamino)carbonyl-3-pyrimidinesulfonylurea. It is mainly used to control annual and perennial broadleaf weeds and some grass weeds in corn fields. It has low solubility in water, but is soluble in some organic solvents such as acetone and methanol. It is relatively stable in weakly acidic and neutral environments, but is easily hydrolyzed under strong alkaline conditions.
