Industrial and Laboratory Applications:
- Serves as a reaction medium for aromatic extraction, resin and dye processing, acrylic polymerization, and as a wire drawing solvent.
- Functions as an organic solvent, reaction medium, and intermediate in organic synthesis.
- Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) is used as an analytical reagent and as a stationary phase in gas chromatography, and also as a solvent in ultraviolet spectrum analysis.
- Can be used as an antifreezing agent.
