EGME is colorless transparent liquid with a pleasant odor. Miscible with water, ethanol, ether, glycerol, acetone, N, N-dimethylformamide. Used as a coating solvent, penetrant, leveling agent, and organic synthesis intermediate, as well as an additive for jet fuel.
Ethylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether (EGME) uses
- Paints and Inks: Dissolves acrylic resins, epoxy resins, etc., enhancing coating leveling and drying speed;
- Cleaning Agents: Used for degreasing electronic components and precision instruments due to its strong solvency against oils and solder paste;
- Pesticides and Dyes: Serves as a carrier solvent to facilitate uniform dispersion of active ingredients;
- Brake Fluid: Blended with borate compounds to provide high boiling points and low-temperature stability;
- Printing and Textiles: Facilitates dye penetration into fibers or paper.
