Toluene, CAS No. 108 - 88 - 3, is a colorless, transparent, volatile liquid with a special aromatic odor similar to benzene. Its molecular formula is C₇H₈ and its molecular weight is 92.14. As a homolog of benzene, its molecular structure consists of a benzene ring and a methyl group (-CH₃), and its chemical properties are more reactive than those of benzene.
Toluene Solution is miscible with organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, chloroform, acetone, carbon disulfide, and acetic acid, and is slightly soluble in water (0.067% at 23.5 °C). Its vapor can form an explosive mixture with air, which may combust or explode when exposed to fire or high heat.
