Electrical and electronic: used to manufacture insulating parts such as sockets, switches, circuit boards, etc., with a dielectric constant of 4.5 (normal temperature), and better insulation performance than ordinary plastics.
Construction and decoration: Phenolic foam is used as an insulation material with a thermal conductivity as low as 0.025 W/(m・K), is difficult to burn and produces little smoke, and meets EU fire protection standards.
Composite materials: Impregnated glass fiber or asbestos to make laminates, used for chemical pipeline linings and corrosion-resistant equipment.
Casting and refractory materials: As a sand mold binder, it provides disintegration in metal casting; used in the manufacture of magnesium carbon bricks to improve high-temperature strength.
Safety Information
After curing, the resin is chemically stable, but incineration will produce toxic gases such as hydrogen chloride and carbon monoxide, which need to be treated in a special incinerator. The EU REACH regulation restricts the use of its plasticizer phthalates (such as DEHP).
