Uses
1,2,3 - Trimethylbenzene is an important organic synthesis intermediate and can be used to produce trimesic acid, trimesoyl chloride, etc. Trimesic acid can be used to make polyester resins, alkyd resins, etc. These resins are widely used in industries such as coatings and adhesives. Trimesoyl chloride is the key monomer for the synthesis of poly(m - phenylene isophthalamide) (aramid 1313).
