N-Methylcaprolactam (CAS 2556-73-2) is a lactam organic compound with a molecular formula of C₇H₁₃NO and a molecular weight of 127.18. Its molecular structure contains a six-membered ring lactam and a methyl substituent, and has high chemical stability and solubility. N-Methylcaprolactam is a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid at room temperature, with a density of 0.965 g/cm³, a boiling point of 106-108°C (6 mmHg), a flash point of 103°C, and is easily soluble in polar solvents such as water, ethanol, and acetone, and slightly soluble in non-polar organic solvents.
