In terms of appearance, Thiourea Dioxide presents as white crystalline particles, being non - toxic and odorless. Its melting point is 126°C, at which it decomposes. Its relative density is approximately 1.68. It is soluble in water. At 20°C, its solubility in water is around 26.7g/L. In alkaline solutions, the solubility increases as the alkali concentration rises, yet it is insoluble in organic solvents.

Fiber industry
Bleaching: Organic Synthetic Raw Formamidinesulfinic Acid has good bleaching effect on natural fibers such as wool, silk, and cotton, especially in a weakly alkaline environment. It does not damage the fibers and the bleaching wastewater is easy to handle.
Dyeing: It is used for dyeing with disperse and sulphur dyes. The dosage is only 1/10 of that of bisulfite, but it should be noted that the type and concentration of the dye will affect the color tone.
Reduction cleaning: It is effective for combined fabrics dyed with disperse dyes. It has high stability in an alkaline reduction bath and the dosage is 1/4 of that of bisulfite.
Discharge printing: Due to its high reduction potential and strong stability, it is suitable for discharge printing of all materials.
Shrinkage-proofing: When shrinkage-proofing wool with polyamide, it can promote the fiber's absorption of chemical agents.
Pulp industry: Suitable for reduction bleaching of high-step pulp such as GP, RGP, TMP, CTMP, etc. It is suitable in a neutral to weakly alkaline environment. Mixing with DIP bleaching can improve the whiteness of pulp. It can also be used for chemical pulp bleaching and DIP deinking treatment.
Synthetic fiber: When spinning acrylonitrile fiber, it can be placed in the spinning bath together with thiourea dioxide or impregnated after spinning. After drying, high-whiteness and high-quality products can be obtained, and dyeing properties can also be improved.
