Methyl Formate Applications
- Methyl formate is used as a raw material in organic synthesis. It can be used to produce formic acid, formamide, dimethylformamide (DMF), ethylene glycol, trichloromethyl chloroformate, oxalates, acetic anhydride, and acetic acid.
- It can also be used as a solvent for nitrocellulose and cellulose acetate, as an intermediate in pharmaceutical manufacturing, and as a fumigant and sterilizing agent.
