Trichloroethylene (TCE), also known as acetylene trichloride, is a colorless, slightly sweet-tasting volatile liquid and a highly soluble solvent. It is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. Under normal conditions, it is non-flammable. Due to its moderate boiling point, high steam pressure, strong stability, and suitability for air washing operations, it is used in industry for metal cleaning (thorough degreasing) and fiber degreasing.
