- As a chemical raw material, Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA, CAS 67-63-0) is used in the production of acetone, hydrogen peroxide, methyl isobutyl ketone, diisobutyl ketone, isopropylamine, isopropyl ether, isopropyl chloride, fatty acid isopropyl esters, and chlorinated fatty acid isopropyl esters.
- As a solvent, it is a cost-effective and widely used industrial solvent with good miscibility in water. Compared with ethanol, it has stronger solvency for lipophilic substances, making it suitable for dissolving nitrocellulose, rubber, coatings, shellac, alkaloids, and other organic materials. It is also widely used in cleaning and disinfecting formulations, where its fast evaporation and effective cleaning performance help remove contaminants and support surface hygiene.
- In the electronics industry, it is commonly used as a cleaning, degreasing, and disinfecting agent for PCB boards, precision components, and electronic devices, helping ensure clean surfaces and reducing contamination in production processes.
- In the oil and chemical industry, it can be used as an extractant for cottonseed oil and for degreasing animal-derived tissue membranes. It is also applied in industrial cleaning processes where both oil removal and surface sanitation are required.
