- Gas Treatment: Within the petroleum and natural gas industries, DEA functions as a desulphurisation agent, effectively removing acidic gases such as H₂S and CO₂ through amine scrubbing processes to enhance fuel purity.
- Industrial additives: It functions as a corrosion inhibitor to protect metallic equipment or as an emulsifier in lubricants and cutting fluids. Within the textile sector, it facilitates dye dispersion, while in pesticides it serves as an intermediate compound.
- Chemical synthesis: DEA is employed as a catalyst in polyurethane foam production and as a precursor in pharmaceutical and dye synthesis.
