It appears as a white crystalline powder or solid, easily soluble in water (forming a 0.1 M clear colorless solution at 20℃) and soluble in polar organic solvents.
Lithium dodecyl sulfate remains stable at room temperature but is incompatible with strong oxidants. It should be stored in a dry environment at 18–25℃.

Uses
As an anionic surfactant, Lithium Dodecyl Sulfate can replace sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in low-temperature electrophoresis, overcoming SDS crystallization issues at low temperatures and making it suitable for protein separation and analysis. Industrially, it serves as a dispersant in nanomaterial synthesis, a cleaning agent for precision equipment, a preservative, and a desiccant for chemical storage. Additionally, it improves chromatographic separation when used as an additive.
