It is slightly soluble in water (about 0.1 g/100 mL), easily soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and soluble in alkaline solutions to form sodium salts.
Applications：
As an organic synthesis intermediate, 1H-Imidazole-2(3H)-thione is used to synthesize sulfur-containing heterocyclic drugs (such as the antiparasitic drug nitazoxanide), or as a structural unit of metalloproteinase inhibitors. In the field of electrocatalysis, the negative divalent anion formed after deprotonation can be used as a highly efficient catalyst for the semi-hydrogenation of acetylene to produce ethylene.
