The corresponding compound of CAS 1667-99-8 is Mordant Blue 29, also known as Chromeazurol S, which is a trisodium salt organic compound containing sulfonic and carboxyl groups. It is mainly used for metal ion detection and biological staining. Its molecular formula is C23H13Cl2Na3O9S and its molecular weight is 605.28.
Mordant Blue 29 is a brown-black crystalline powder at room temperature with no obvious odor. It is slightly soluble in ethanol and is reddish brown. It is insoluble in non-polar solvents. The melting point is about 140-159℃ (decomposition). It is stable to air but easy to absorb moisture and needs to be sealed for storage.

Uses

Metal ion detection:
Determination of aluminum, calcium, iron, nickel, etc. by Mordant Blue 29 chelate titration; determination of beryllium, cobalt, gallium, zirconium and fluoride ions by spectrophotometry (indirect determination by beryllium-chrome azure S complex).
Clinical detection of serum iron content.
Biological staining: used for mitochondrial vital staining and laboratory staining of fungi and protozoa.
Industrial field: used as a dye for ink and paint coloring, or as a redox indicator.
