Bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate (DOA) (CAS No. 103-23-1) is an important aliphatic dicarboxylate with a molecular formula of C₂₂H₄₂O₄ and a molecular weight of 370.57 g/mol.

It is a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid at room temperature with a faint characteristic odor. DOA has a melting point of −67°C, boiling point of 374.4°C (760 mmHg), and density of 0.924 g/mL (25°C). It is insoluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, diethyl ether, and benzene, and exhibits good compatibility with most resins.

Uses

As a PVC cold-resistant plasticizer, DOA significantly reduces the material's glass transition temperature, enabling flexibility at −40°C. It is widely used in cold-resistant agricultural films, wire and cable sheaths, artificial leather, and frozen food packaging. For synthetic rubber modification, DOA plasticizes natural rubber, nitrile rubber, and other synthetic rubbers at low temperatures, improving processing performance and low-temperature crack resistance while maintaining vulcanization efficiency.
