Method of Preparation:
4,4'-DIMETHYL-2,2'-BIPYRIDINE 1-OXIDE can be synthesized by an oxidation reaction of 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine. The reaction of sodium hydroxide and hydrogen peroxide is usually used by dispersing sodium hydroxide in an appropriate amount of water, adding 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine, and then slowly dropping a hydrogen peroxide solution. As the reaction proceeds, oxides are produced and gases are given off.
