Neopentyl glycol diglycidyl ether appears as a colorless transparent liquid or a slightly yellow transparent liquid. It has a density of 1.04 g/mL at 25°C, a boiling point of 103 - 107°C at 1 mmHg, a vapor density greater than 1 (compared to air), a refractive index of 1.457, a flash point greater than 230°F, and a water solubility of 0.5 - 1.0 g/100 mL at 20.5°C.

Uses

As an active diluent for epoxy resin: Neopentyl glycol diglycidyl ether can reduce the reactivity of epoxy resin and curing agent under the same temperature conditions, improve processing performance, facilitate large-area construction, and be convenient for casting, pouring, bonding, sealing, impregnation, etc.
As a cross-linking agent: In the curing process of epoxy resin, neopentyl glycol diglycidyl ether can be used as a cross-linking agent, undergoing a ring-opening reaction with the epoxy group to form a cross-linked network structure, thereby improving the mechanical strength, heat resistance and chemical stability of the resin.
For the synthesis of silicone polymers: It can be used as a raw material to participate in the synthesis of silicone polymers, giving the product specific properties, such as better flexibility and weather resistance.
