Nickel (II) Chloride Hexahydrate appears as a green-yellow or green crystalline powder or flaky crystal at room temperature and is hygroscopic. Its density is 1.92 g/cm³. There are different views regarding its melting point, with values of either 80 °C or 1001 °C. The boiling point is 100 ºC at 760 mmHg. It is readily soluble in water, ethanol, methanol, and ammonia water, and its aqueous solution is acidic. It is stable at room temperature, but it reacts violently with potassium.
