Fluorescent Brightener 220 (BBU) is mainly used in the papermaking and textile industries. It absorbs ultraviolet light and emits blue light to significantly improve the whiteness and gloss of paper, cotton fiber, viscose fiber and other materials. Its anionic properties make it compatible with anionic or nonionic surfactants and suitable for environments with a pH value of 4.5–13. In the papermaking industry, it can be directly added to pulp, coatings or surface sizing agents; in the textile field, it is suitable for whitening cotton and viscose fibers.
