Propanil is a thiocarbamate selective herbicide with the chemical name S-(1-ethylthio)-2-hexylamide. It is mainly used to control annual grass weeds in rice fields, especially barnyard grass, and has a strong selective control effect. It is a colorless to light yellow oily liquid with a slight sulfide odor. This compound is easily soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, acetone and benzene, and slightly soluble in water.

1. Propanil is mainly used to control barnyard grass and other annual grass weeds in rice fields. It has a good control effect on weeds such as barnyard grass and is often used in rice transplanting fields and direct seeding fields. When used in rice fields, it is safer for rice.
