Pimecrolimus is mainly used for the treatment of eczema. According to the approval of the US FDA, patients aged 2 years and above with mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (AD) who are not immunosuppressed can use 1% pimecrolimus cream as a second-line drug for short-term and non-continuous treatment. In addition, pimecrolimus is recommended as a first-line drug in the German atopic dermatitis treatment guidelines, especially in the treatment of sensitive areas (such as the face, intertriginous areas, and scalp). It is well tolerated and more effective than glucocorticoids.
