Bismuth(III) Oxide (CAS 1304-76-3) is a yellow inorganic compound with a molecular formula of Bi₂O₃ and a molecular weight of 465.96. It appears as a heavy powder or monoclinic crystal at room temperature. Also known as Bismuth trioxide or Bismuth Oxide powder, it remains stable in air.
Insoluble in water but soluble in hydrochloric and nitric acids, Bismuth(III) Oxide boils at 1890℃ and has a flash point corresponding to its boiling point. It readily reduces to metallic bismuth when exposed to hydrogen or hydrocarbons.

Uses

Bismuth(III) Oxide facilitates degradation of organic pollutants (e.g., dyes, antibiotics, pesticides) and energy conversion (water photolysis for hydrogen production, CO₂ reduction). Its surface oxygen vacancies and crystal phase regulation enhances the  separation of photogenerated electrons and holes. When modified with nanostructures or heterojunctions, it efficiently degrades pollutants like rhodamine B and methylene blue, while catalyzing hydrogen production or CO₂-to-fuel conversion under visible light.
