15-Crown-5 is a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid at room temperature, with a melting point of - 20°C, a boiling point of 350.9°C (normal pressure), and a density of 1.109 g/cm³ (20°C). It is easily soluble in polar solvents such as water, ethanol, and dichloromethane, and is miscible with non-polar organic solvents. It is easy to form hydrates after absorbing moisture.

Uses：

Complexing ability
The macrocyclic structure can selectively encapsulate metal ions (such as Na⁺, K⁺, NH₄⁺, etc.) to form stable complexes.
Phase transfer catalysis
As a phase transfer catalyst, it promotes the reaction between aqueous phase and organic phase (such as benzoin condensation, Williamson ether synthesis), and improves the reaction rate and yield.
Ion separation and detection
It is used for ion selective extraction (such as separation of alkali metal ions) and chemical sensors to identify specific metal ions through complexation.

Toxicity: Low toxicity, oral LD₅₀ in rats is 1410 mg/kg.
Irritant: Irritating to eyes, skin and respiratory tract (H315, H319, H335), protective equipment must be worn during operation.
