Gold(I) Trisodium Disulphite is able to dissolve in water, generating sulfite ions and gold ions, and is relatively stable at room temperature, but decomposes at high temperatures or under acidic conditions.

Applications:
Gold(I) Trisodium Disulphite can be used as a catalyst, commonly used in organic synthesis reactions, such as redox reactions, cyclic reactions.
Electroplating: sodium gold sulfite can be used in the field of metal electroplating, commonly used in the preparation of surfaces with metallic luster.

Gold(I) Trisodium Disulphite is a triamine that is used for the chemical fixation of gold nanoparticles onto fabric. It is also used in the production of solar cells, where it serves as an absorber layer. Sodium disulfitoaurate(I) - aqueous solution has been shown to be able to remove cyanogen from the air and water, which makes it useful in the diagnosis of cyanide poisoning. This agent can be prepared by reacting hydrochloric acid with sodium sulphite or sodium hydrosulphite.

Preparation:
React the gold salt (such as sodium gold chlorate) with sulfurous acid to generate gold sulfite salt.
The gold sulfite salt is reacted with sodium chloride to generate a sodium gold sulfite precipitate.
The generated precipitate is filtered, washed and dried to obtain a final sodium gold sulfite product.
