In addition, DEG is widely applied in antifreeze solutions, brake fluids, lubricants, cork plasticizers, coatings, and packaging materials. Being non-flammable, with low vapor toxicity and minimal skin absorption risk, DEG is frequently selected as a solvent across multiple industries.
Triethylene Glycol (TEG):
TEG is another member of the glycol group, containing three ethylene glycol units, and is also used as a raw material for synthetic resins. Compared with MEG, both DEG and TEG exhibit higher viscosity and boiling points. TEG, although flammable, does not release harmful vapors or pose significant skin absorption hazards, making it suitable for solvent applications. Owing to its chemical similarity to DEG, it also finds wide use as an intermediate in resin manufacturing and related processes.
